Found most often in botryoidal, aka globular masses, Malachite gets its brilliant green color from copper. This indelible color made Malachite perfect for creating bold pigments and was used until about 1800 CE for paints, eyeshadows, and more. A protective stone, 17th century Spaniards thought that wearing Malachite would protect them from the evil eye.
