Winter Hot Toddy

If I'm brutally honest, I hate Winter. Actually, more correctly, I hate being cold. It's a thing.

But, there's one thing about cold weather that I do love: it's the time of year that you put whiskey in a teacup. A warm, boozy beverage makes the layers of clothes feel a little less restrictive, and that makes them not only ok in my book, but a necessary part of those cold weather seasons.

Now, with this in mind, I knew that when we were formulating our line of herbal teas that I wanted the Winter tea, named Nestle, to be a perfect tea for a hot toddy.

I wanted a really good excuse to put whiskey in a teacup, and oh boy did I get it.

Nestle, our Winter-themed tea from our line of herbal teas, Mother Tree's Botanical Teas, is a beautiful tea featuring some nostalgic flavors of the Winter season: ginger, orange peel, cloves, cinnamon, and... wait for it... cedar leaves.

Be still my beating heart.

I mean, who wouldn't want to put whiskey in that, amiright?

And that's just what I did, bringing together an earthy, spicy, and delicious tea together with citrus, honey, and whiskey to create a warm and cozy cocktail perfect for even the most precocious of teacups.

The product is a warm, zesty sip with just the right amount of sweetness. So I guess I can be a little less angry now about donning a cozy sweater, as long as you pass me a boozy teacup too, please.

Winter Hot Toddy

1 cup of Nestle tea, brewed per instructions (or another spicy tea)
1.5 oz of whiskey
3T orange juice (fresh, if you have it)
honey, to taste (~1 tsp)
orange peel, for garnish

In your favorite teacup (or our Misty Morning Mug), pour in your tea, whiskey, and orange juice. Add honey to taste (I like about 1 tsp, you may want more or less). Garnish with a sliver of orange peel. Sip while wearing your coziest sweater.
